The food is deeply satisfying and is spicy, to say the least. It’s essentially Louisiana cuisine, with a heavy emphasis on beans, rich flavorful sauces, and of course, rice. There are etouffees, gumbos, jambalayas, red beans and rice, in various combinations.

The portions are nothing short of huge. Each dish comes with two large slices of bread slathered with butter, and additional slices are available for 50 cents.

Although most people will be content with the level of spiciness and hotness, Yats does offers an extensive selection of hot sauces and spice additions. From the predictable Cajun seasoning and hot sauces, to the unexpected Thai chilli paste. It’s a spice fan’s heaven-on-earth.

Dessert? Try the wicked, homemade peanut butter cream pie. 'Nuff Said.
